So after 42 years…its goodnight from Tony Wright.

Tony Wright retires after sixteen remarkable years in the military charity sector, closing a chapter defined by service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to those who have served. As a social worker, veteran, and the visionary founder behind About Turn CIC, Forward Assist, and Salute Her UK, Tony has dedicated his life to standing with veterans and military families through some of their most challenging moments. His work has reached some of the most overlooked and vulnerable members of the community, ensuring they were heard, supported, and empowered. Through his leadership and compassion, he created safe spaces where recovery, dignity, and hope could take root. Tony’s legacy is one of lifelong service as a Social Worker, Probation Officer and Home Office Advisor followed by his tireless advocacy for others in the military charity sector especially surivors of in service sexual violence, assault, bullying and harrasment. His campaign work to have Military Sexual Trauma recognised by the Ministry of Defence will continue, but it will be led by those survivors who want justice and closure. His contribution has not only shaped organisations but transformed lives, bringing national attention to issues affecting veterans and, in particular, women in the armed forces. His retirement marks the end of an extraordinary career, but the impact of his work will continue to ripple through the sector for years to come. Tony leaves behind a powerful example of what it means to lead with purpose, empathy, and courage. His dedication has made the veteran community stronger, safer, and better understood, and he departs with deep respect and gratitude from all whose lives he has touched. We thank Emma Foody MP and Sir Alan Campbell MP for the kinds words spoken in Parliament on 27th November 2025.
