Gender Specific Art Groups

Forward Assist has over the years facilitated several therapeutic art and creative writing classes for veterans of all ages. Veterans glass, ceramics, photography, poems and art work has gone on display at a variety of locations across the North East of England. More recently the educational art classes were facilitated by: Michael Mulvihill, who is co-convener of the Military War and Security Research Group at Newcastle University, he has over 20 years’ experience of working in arts and the well being sector. The art works produced were exhibited on the Newcastle University Campus. In 2021 we plan to organise a Veterans Photography Exhibition in partnership with new and existing partners.

Forward Assist

Forward Assist provide support and guidance to former servicemen and women that experience difficulties in adjusting to a new life as a civilian. Forward Assist offer intergenerational support to both male & female veterans and their families. The veterans we work with are aged 18-100 years of age and come from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.
