Sarah, (ON the left)

Sarah was the first civilian to join Forward Assist in November 2015, bringing with her an array of skills to support our veterans. She started her career graduating with a 2.1 Business Degree and then moved into retail management before owning her own pub business.

Following on from that Sarah moved to London to continue her career in recruitment and then proceeded to develop and manage the Corporate Social Responsibility within the organisation. This gave her the passion and drive to develop her career in the Charity sector, moving back to the North East to work for a youth unemployment charity before joining the Forward Assist team.

Sarah manages a variety of different programmes across the organisation whilst giving expert advice on employment to our veterans. Sarah also works closely with a variety of businesses creating opportunities for our veterans and promoting the benefits of hiring ex service personnel.

Sarah is also the female veterans lead, working directly with the women carrying out activities, consultation sessions and presenting our work at a variety of conferences, creating gender specific support for our female veterans.

She is very passionate about the great outdoors and equine therapy and is a huge advocate of its benefits for our veterans, especially those who are socially isolated and/or suffering mental health conditions.

As well as being client facing, Sarah is also instrumental in the strategic development of the charity, assisting and liaising with the team on a variety of different aspects.

‘From the moment I met with Forward Assist I was blown away by the huge range of help they offer our veterans. At Forward Assist we never forget the most important aspect of our work – our veterans! They are always at the forefront of our minds no matter what we are doing and we always give 110% to ensure they get the best support we can possibly give them.’
